Proposed Toronto Central Council Annual
General Assembly/AGM
TCC has traditionally held its Annual General Meeting at St.
Michael's Cathedral and hall on an evening in late September,
as close to the feast of St. Vincent de Paul (September 27) as
possible. It is proposed this year that the AGM be part
of a General Assembly of our members on Saturday, October 18,
2008. The theme of the day will be - Home
Visitation: At the Heart Of It All. The day would
include a keynote speaker, a panel discussion, a choice of
session topics, lunch with the AGM, and would conclude with
mass, celebrated by Archbishop Collins. It will be held
at Seneca College at Finch Ave. & 404. We are expecting
300-400 members so it was necessary to have a location that
would accommodate these numbers in a hall and then in smaller
rooms for sessions on specific topics (e.g. "When someone
we're serving seems undeserving or dishonest", "serving
longer-term neighbours in need", or "serving those with mental
or physical disabilities")
Moving the AGA/AGM away from the feast of St. Vincent de Paul
allows councils or conferences to celebrate his feast day
together, perhaps with a mass.
The planning committee is anxious to receive suggestions from
our members. What sessions would you like to see
offered? Who would you recommend as a keynote speaker?
What issues would you like to see addressed?
Please direct your comments and suggestions through your
particular council president or email them to Brian Morris at

.
We are excited about this event and hope you will arrange with
many of your conference members to attend.
More details to follow through your conference president.
